The day of the wedding will be a blur for the groom-to-be, just like for his bride. Some things can easily be forgotten. These tips can help the groom-to-be stay on track.
1. Dress Appropriately
Wear the appropriate clothing while being comfortable. Make sure you don’t get a suit or tux that is too tight. You need to remember, you will probably be dancing at the reception and you don’t want to be embarrassed by splitting your pants.
2. Offer to Assist Your Bride-to-Be
Find out if your bride-to-be will be willing to give you specific items to take care of for the wedding day, such as confirming vows with the minister, etc. See if anything she wants done the day of can be delegated among the wedding party and confirm with them the night before the wedding and again that morning.
The morning of the wedding can be chaotic, especially with your bride-to-be; she may text you or call you several times, or maybe she will only call once. Either way, you need to take care of yourself which includes making sure you eat. If you have a way to go out with your best man, or even the groomsmen to eat at a restaurant, do it. While you are there you can go over the day’s events to stay on schedule and go over what you need to get done as well as bring to the ceremony (such as the ring).
4. Pay Attention to the Time
If you have a planned event with the groomsmen before the wedding, make sure you give yourself enough time to get ready without having to rush. If you and your groomsmen are sharing a suite, make sure you take shower time into account. Make sure your family knows where to be and when. Find out if they need any assistance ahead of time so that you have the time set aside for them as well. You can also see if one of the groomsmen can help instead of you.
5. Send Your Bride-to-Be a Note or Small Gift
Traditionally the official gift between couple’s is the wedding rings. Historically, the groom would give extravagant jewelry for the bride to wear for the wedding and the bride would give an elaborate watch or cufflinks. With couples spending their money on the wedding, it doesn’t make sense to go that far. A simple note, letting your bride-to-be know that you are looking forward to spending the rest of your life with her along with a small trinket would more than suffice. She will be nervous about the day and that note and small gift will give her a moment to think about you and forget about everything else.
From keeping track of the time and running last minute errands, you can get anxious. Remember to step back and breathe! Your wedding will be a joyous event, you don’t need to stress about the little stuff. You will probably have to text or call your bride-to-be to tell her the same thing. You are marrying the love of your life and you will have a wonderful day, no matter what happens!
