We had a great showing at the Bridal Spectacular over the weekend. There were quite a few vendors there for Brides-to-be to be able to chat and see what is available for their wedding day. Vendors were from the ceremony to the honeymoon as well as for the couple’s future.
The Bridal Spectacular had Monte Durham, from “Say Yes to the Dress Atlanta”, as the celebrity guest for the bridal show. He gave several useful tips for the brides-to-be. Monte allowed me to record what he had to say, once I have had a chance to transcribe I will be posting that blog as well.
Monte Durham had interviews from WVLT, WBIR and WATE. He gave ideas, especially for brides-to-be to know their budget. He also said, in short, trends were mentioned that we are seeing more of an organic feel, covered up a little more with jewel necklines; a lot of lace embellishments. Bling is toned down, more dresses are at the natural waist with gathered, soft skirts and soft A-lines and little trains. Veils are coming back in vogue. The fascinator is huge at receptions and sashes, bows and buttons are big.
Monte also said a lot of girls have been looking back on their mother’s wedding albums and the girls want something that will stand the test o time. They want a gown that will hold out and in 20 years will still have them loving the gown and enjoying it. Brides-to-be are also looking at poses from pictures from their parents and grandparents and wanting to re-create that pose for themselves. Destination weddings and barn weddings are huge trends.
There were two fashion shows with bridal fashions provided by Gilded Gown and men’s formals provided by Savvi Formal-wear. The models not only displayed the fashions, they carried beautiful flower arrangements by Lisa Foster Floral Design. Smokey Mountain Sounds was the Master of Ceremonies and entertainment for the event as well as the fashion show.
