Pets Without Parents is a no kill shelter in Sevier County. It was established in 2011. The shelter is non-profit so it relies on donations to help rescue animals to find their forever home. A home without pain, without neglect and with love.
This year was their fourth year hosting the annual “All Paws Silent Auction and Concert”. Their biggest fundraiser of the year. We were honored to have been a part of the event. The auction had so many amazing items; A fiddle signed by Charlie Daniels, cruise tickets, attraction tickets and so much more.
There were so many people that came to support the shelter. Jack Reed was the guest artist, (he has opened for George Jones and Waylon Jennings), and he brought local Doug Thompson to perform as well. Jack sang several hits from so many different artists and sang some gospel music as well. Doug is an Elvis impersonator and did a beautiful job singing his songs. They even showed this video: http://vimeo.com/111355539
Lory Popps is the director for Pets Without Parents and she did a beautiful job coordinating the event. I am so grateful that her heart is for the canines and felines that are in need. Lory also runs the Barker Lounge. Every pet that either goes to the shelter or visits the lounge are treated as if they are her pets. I am quite sure that if she could, she would keep every animal that comes to her. Our county is so much better having her as a part of our community.
With the help of many supporters for either donating items or attending and joining in on the auction. The auction and concert earned $15,625.00; enough to cover winter expenses for Pets Without Parents. If you have a heart for pets, we highly recommend supporting them, even if it is only a couple bottles of bleach or a bag of Pedigree Dog Food.
Smokey Mountain Sounds was glad to have been a part of this worthwhile event.
